Meet Our Quartet
Marianne Shoen Hunter, LEAD, sings with Capitaland Chorus in Albany, NY. Marianne has sung in two of Region 16’s Champion Quartets: baritone with InJoy! (2000, 2001, 2002) and lead with All the Rage! (2004), and is thrilled to be quartetting again with “the other three baritones” in Avanti! Marianne is a full time Mommy to Danny and Carly and works part time as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Marianne’s husband, Joe, is the love of her life and number one fan.
Beth (Spencer) Riegle, Bass, started appreciating harmony singing with
her family as a child and joined Sweet Adelines with her Mom, over
26 years ago. She is a proud member of the award winning,
Hawaii bound, Buffalo Gateway Chorus where she is a Music Direction
Comm. member. She directed the former Niagara Festival Chorus and
has sung in several quartets including Viva!, sharing the Int’l stage in
Portland with Sue (Avanti! Bari) as Reg. 16’s Wildcard Reps. She also
sings Bass in Starpoint, a BGC registered quartet. Recently, Beth
became the Director of the Activities Department at St. Francis of
Buffalo Geriatric Facility in Buffalo, NY. Beth lives in Ridgeway,
Ontario, Canada with her wonderful husband of 23 years, Chris and
their daughter Kristen (her most cherished gift in life) where they are active members of their Church and Community. Beth says…”Life is good!”
Sue Melvin, Avanti! Baritone is a second-generation Barbershop Singer who began in the hobby as a member of a children's barbershop chorus at age 8. She has been a Sweet Adeline for 25 years, and has sung in several award-winning quartets. Sue directs both the Rochester Chorus of Sweet Adelines, as well as the Rochester Rhapsody Chorus of Harmony Incorporated. She doubles as Bass of the 2007 medallist Harmony Inc. quartet, FUSION. In her 'other life' (IS there a life outside of singing?) Sue has 4 wonderful children: Troy-11, Diana-20, Danielle-18 and Greg-44. (Oops, that oldest one is really a husband!)
Molly Rowland, tenor of Avanti !, is the former Master Director of the 4-time Champion, Buffalo Gateway Chorus. Past quartets include Regional champions Modifications, RBQ Connection and Daybreak, as well as Top 15 Int'l Wildcard Respresentatives, Diamond Jazz and Top 10 Representatives, Daybreak. Mother of 3, she loves to arrange Bbs harmony and is a hands-on grandma of 5. Along with husband, David, traveling, sailing and hiking round out any extra time !!
